Golden Bears honor 11 players during "Senior Night"

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman defenseman Joe Deptula (Anchorage, AK) scored two goals as the Western New England College men's hockey posted a 5-3 victory over Framingham State during “Senior Night” Tuesday evening (Feb. 17) at Smead Arena.

The Golden Bears, who had two short-handed goals and a pair of power play scores, improved their overall record to 3-19-2 and 3-11-2 in the ECAC Northeast in their final home appearance of the season.

Deptula started the scoring with a short-handed goal at 11:40 of the opening period. Senior forward Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL) added a goal with 36 seconds left to give the Golden Bears a 2-0 lead after the first stanza.

The Rams got on the board when freshman forward Aran Ward (Dunstable, MA) fired in a shot just 2:29 into the middle period.

Western New England College senior forward Jason Remsbecker (Farmingdale, NY) scored perhaps the biggest goal of the game when he stole the puck and netted another short-handed score at the 8:58 mark.

Deptula added a power play goal at 11:22 as the Golden Bears took a 4-1 advantage after 40 minutes.

WNEC took a 5-1 lead when sophomore forward Chris Beaudoin (Enfield, CT) scored at 9:36 of the third period.
Framingham State made the score close scoring two in five seconds.

Junior forward Joseph Hurley (Charlestown, MA) netted a power play goal at 12:39 and after the ensuing face-off junior forward Jason Anderson (Arden Hills, MI) blasted home a shot. Freshman defenseman Thomas Manning (Rockland, MA) assisted on both goals.

Freshman center Kory Grahl (San Diego, CA) contributed a pair of assists for the Golden Bears while Majesty chipped-in with an assist for a two-point night.

Junior goalie Justin Richards (Somers, CT) made 18 saves for Western New England College while junior Andy Joyce (Milford, MA) stopped 20 shots for the Rams (0-20-4, 0-13-3 ECAC Northeast).
