Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward Kelly McCormick (Manchester, CT) scored a career high 17 points as the Western New England College women's basketball team ran its winning streak to five games with a 70-38 victory over visiting Anna Maria Wednesday evening (Feb. 18) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
The Golden Bears went over the .500 mark at 12-11 and raised their record to 8-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
McCormick played her best game of the season making 6-of-10 shots from the field. She pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists.
Junior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) added 11 points and eight rebounds while freshman forward Sarah Proper (Coxsackie, NY) contributed 11 points with six rebounds. Senior guard Katie Arey (Enfield, NH) had a solid outing with nine points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Western New England College scored he first 12 points of the game, but Anna Maria played evenly after that trailing by only 32-20 at halftime. The Golden Bears broke away in second half scoring 38 points.
Junior forward Maggie Sielawa (Webster, MA) led the AMCATS with 13 points and nine rebounds while freshman guard Amanda Hevy (North Brookfield, MA) netted 11 points. Sophomore guard Emily Nugent (Worcester, MA) tallied all nine of her points in the second half., including the team's first eight points after the break.
Anna Maria falls to 3-21 overall and 0-12 in the conference.
