Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine - Freshman guard Kelly Paradis (Newport, ME) led a balanced attack with a game-high 20 points and four steals as the third-seeded University of New England College women's basketball team posted a 79-66 victory over Western New England College in a quarterfinal round game of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament Tuesday evening (Feb. 24) at the Campus Center.
All five starters scored in double figures for the Nor'easters as senior guard Alli Gamache (Dudley, MA) added 17 points with four rebounds and three assists.
Senior forward Sara Pelkey (Barre, VT) contributed a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman forward Margo Russell (Madison, ME) and sophomore guard Carrie Bunnell (Barnet, VT) had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
UNE held a 37-31 lead at halftime and pulled away in the second half in avenging a loss to the Golden Bears in last year's conference tournament.
Junior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) and sophomore guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) each tallied 14 points for Western New England College. Al-Darraji also had five rebounds and seven assists.
Sophomore forward Kelly McCormick (Manchester, CT) chipped-in with 11 points while senior guard Katie Arey (Enfield, NH) had six points and a team high seven rebounds in her final contest.
The University of New England improves its record to 20-6 while WNEC ends its campaign with a 12-13 mark.
