Western New England College drops close conference match against Endicott

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College men's tennis team dominated the doubles matches, but faltered in singles play as visiting Endicott rallied for a 5-4 victory Friday afternoon (March 27).

The Golden Bears fall to 4-3 and 1-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). The Gulls move to 2-3 and 1-0 in the league.

WNEC started strong by winning all three doubles matches as sophomores Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) and Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) at the No. 1 flight; senior co-captains Alex Boutin (Bristol, CT) and Jason Lee (Sacresdale, NY) at the No. 2 position, and sophomore Steve Genovese (North Haven, CT) and freshman JonPaul Ouellette (Bethlehem, CT) at the No. 3 spot, all won close matches.

Ouellette was the only Golden Bears' player to win in singles taking his No. 6 match in three sets.
