Box Score WESTFIELD, Mass. - Playing its first game since returning from spring break, the Western New England College softball team posted a 10-4 victory over host Westfield State Friday afternoon (Mar. 27) in a non-league game at Alumni Field.
Junior second base player Kate Post (Bridgewater, MA) and sophomore rightfielder Erin Griffin (Lowell, MA) each had a pair of singles, three runs-batted-in, and a run scored for the Golden Bears who compiled 11 hits.
Freshman pitcher/designated hitter Sarah Lempicki (Southington, CT) had two hits, including her first college homer, and won her third game in four decisions.
Sophomore leftfielder Mallory Householder (Ellington, CT) added two singles and a RBI.
WNEC (7-4) scored six runs in the third and tallied twice in the fourth to take a 9-3 advantage. The Golden Bears' final run came in the sixth on Lempicki's blast to straightaway center.
Junior designated hitter Kim Brennan (Douglas, MA) went 3-for-3 with a RBI for the Owls (6-4).
