Season over after Western New England College falls to Endicott in conference playoffs

BEVERLY, Mass. - The season is over for the Western New England College men's tennis team after a 6-3 loss to Endicott Saturday (April 18) in a quarterfinal round match of The Commonwealth Coast Conferenc (TCCC) Championship.

The Golden Bears, who were seeded-sixth in the tournament, started strong by capturing two of the three doubles matches before the third-seeded Gulls dominated singles action by winning five matches.

WNEC sophomores Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) and Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) won their No. 1 doubles fight with a hard-earned 9-8 decision over seniors Josh Schoen (Phoenix, AZ) and Scott Teller (Granville, NY).

Senior co-captains Alex Boutin (Bristol, CT) and Jason Lee (Scarsdale, NY) gave the Golden Bears another point with an 8-2 win over sophomores Devon Locke (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) and Mike D'Ambra (Barrington, RI).

Lee captured his final match by posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over D'Ambra at the No. 4 singles position.

Western New England College ends its campaign with a 7-8 record.

Endicott imroves to 11-5 and advances to the conference semifinals at second-seeded Salve Regina.
