Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior pitcher Laura Bower (Hudson, MA) fired a four-hitter as second-seeded Western New England College defeated third-seeded Curry 7-1 in the first day of action at The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Softball Tournament Tuesday afternoon (April 28).
Bower walked one, fanned five and allowed no earned runs to improve to 12-5 this spring.
Junior rightfielder Christina Farese (Marlborough, MA) had two hits and scored a run while sophomore first base player Trish Breault (Millville, MA) had a two-run single.
The Colonels didn't help themselves with four errors, which led to five unearned runs.
Western New England College now has a 27-15 record while Curry falls to 28-12.
WNEC will visit top-seeded Endicott on Thursday (April 30) in a winners' bracket game of the double elimination tounament.
That contest will take place approximaely 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Curry vs. fifth-seeded Salve Regina contest, which begins at 2:30 p.m. on the EC campus.
