SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision to Colby-Sawyer Thursday afternoon (April 9).
The Golden Bears now have a 7-5 overall record and 4-3 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
It was Senior Day as the College honored its two co-captains, Alex Boutin (Bristol, CT) and Jason Lee (Scarsdale, NY), before the match.
Boutin and Lee then went out and posted an 8-1 victory over junior Ben Dabush (Weston, CT) and freshman Chris Lavoie (Gorham, ME) at the No. 2 doubles position.
Sophomores Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) and Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) took an 8-3 decision over sophomore Hart Callahan (Malvern, PA) and freshman Jamie Thormann (Northeast Harbor, ME) at the No. 1 doubles flight to raise their record to 10-1.
Relihan was the only singles winner for the hosts taking an exciting 6-3, 6-7, 10-5 verdict over Dabush at the No. 2 spot.
The Chargers raised their record to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
