Successful season opener as Western New England College tops Bay Path

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
- Senior co-captain Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) won both her number one doubles and number two singles matches as the Western New England College women's tennis team topped visiting Bay Path 8-1 in the season opener for both squads Thursday (Sept. 3).

Ayers teamed with sophomore Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) for an 8-4 win in doubles action, then posted a 6-0, 6-1 in her singles match.

Senior Kelly Murnane (Cheshire, CT), junior Ashley Czelatka (Southington, NY), and sophomore Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) also captured both their doubles and singles events.

Bay Path senior Julia Bendzin (Poestenkill, NY) took the number one singles match.
