WENHAM, Mass. - The Western New England College women's tennis team opened its season in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with a 7-2 victory over host Gordon Saturday afternoon (Sept. 5).

The Golden Bears (2-0) won five of the six singles matches and two doubles matches.

Freshman Linda Mustafa (Chicopee, MA) captured her No. 3 singles match in straight sets and teamed with sophomore Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) for a win at No. 3 doubles.

Senior Kelly Murnane (Cheshire, CT) took her No. 4 singles flight in straight sets and teamed with junior Ashley Czelatka (Southampton, NY) for a victory at No. 2 doubles. 

Barbarisi and Czelatka also won their No. 5 amd No. 6 singles matches, respectively.

Senior Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) was the winner at No. 2 singles.
