BRISTOL, R.I. – Seventh-seeded Western New England College suffered a 5-1 loss to second-seeded Roger Williams in a quarterfinal round match of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Tennis Tournament Tuesday (Oct. 12).
The Golden Bears' only win came at number three doubles when senior
Ashley Czelatka (Southampton, NY) and junior
Jess Haffner (Suffield, CT) took an 8-4 decision over juniors
Kristin Dono (West Boylston, MA) and
Libby Magner (Lakefield, MA).
The Hawks led 2-1 after doubles action before taking both the number one and six doubles matches when the match ended due to decision.
Western New England College ends its campaign with a 6-8 record.
Roger Williams improves to 11-4 and advances to the tournament semifinals against third-seeded Salve Regina (a 5-0 winner over sixth-seeded Curry) on Saturday (Oct. 16).
