POMFRET, Conn. - The Nichols women's tennis team defeated Western New England College 6-1 to clinch the regular season title in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 5).

The Bison improved their record to 11-1 overall and a perfect 10-0 in the conference. The Golden Bears drop to 4-7 overall and 4-6 in the league.

Junior Caitlin Hughes (Springfield, MA) posted an exciting 6-3, 7-5 victory at number three singles for the Golden Bears' lone win.

Hughes and junior Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) played a strong match at number one doubles before dropping a 9-8 (7-4) decision.

Nichols freshman Anna Dyakiv (Amsterdam, NY) captured the number one singles match 6-2, 6-2 over DeSimone.
