SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield men's tennis team swept all six singles matches in posting an 8-1 victory over Western New England College Friday afternoon (Oct. 8) at SC's Appleton Courts.

The Golden Bears' only win came at the number one doubles position when senior co-captains Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) and Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) posted an exciting 9-7 victory over sophomore Ben Burnap (Westerly, RI) and senior Eric Henne (Bristol, CT).

Burnap came back to down Relihan at the top singles spot 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 in another thrilling match.

This was the Golden Bears' opening match of the 2010-11 season and its only outing of the fall season.

Coach Jenn Kolins' squad resumes action next spring.

The Pride now has a 2-1 record.
