Wentworth hands WNEC its first loss of the year in ECAC Northeast action

BOSTON, Mass. - Junior forward Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, CA) recorded a hat trick as Wentworth handed Western New England College their first loss of the season with a 7-2 victory on Sunday (Nov. 21) at Matthews Arena.

Jameson became the 10th player in Wentworth history to eclipse 100 career points.

Sophomore defender Shaun Jameson (Long Beach, CA) contributed five assists, and senior defenseman Kyle Richardson (San Jose, CA) chipped in with four assists for the Leopards.

Wentworth opened the scoring when sophomore Mike Marrocco (Braintree, MA) scored from freshmen Nick Chiapetta (Mississauga, ON) and Fred Gervasi (Mississauga, ON) at 8:31of the opening stanza.

The Golden Bears answered back with 32 seconds left in the first as junior forward Mike Kaselouskas (East Longmeadow, MA) put home the rebound of his own saved shot to even the score.

The Leopards broke away in the second, scoring four consecutive goals to take a 5-1 advantage.

WNEC senior forward Chris Beaudoin (Enfield, CT) scored on a pass from freshman forward Keith MacDonald (Chicopee, MA) at 12:40 to cut the Leopard lead to 5-2.

Wentworth tacked on two insurance goals in the third to seal the victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Chris Azzano (Oshawa, ON) turned aside 18 shots to earn the win in his first collegiate start.

WNEC freshman goalkeeper Eric Sorensen (Rochester, NY) allowed four goals on 16 shots over the first 25:42, while sophomore goalkeeper T.J. Fatse (Hampden, MA) made 25 saves over the final 34:18.

Wentworth improves to 2-3-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in ECAC Northeast play; while the Golden Bears slip to 3-1-1 overall with a 1-1-0 mark in ECAC Northeast action.

Western New England College will travel to Manhattanville on Tuesday (Nov. 23) at 7:00 p.m.
