Amherst too tough as Western New England College falls in non-league outing

AMHERST, Mass.
- Junior forward Jeff Holmes (Saunderstown, RI) compiled a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds coming off the bench to lead the Amherst men's basketball team to a 93-64 victory over visiting Western New England College Tuesday night (Nov. 23) at LeFrank Gym.

Sophomore guard Willy Workman (Northampton, MA) and senior guard Conor Meehan (Meriden, CT) added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Lord Jeffs who stayed undefeated at 3-0.

Amherst, which shot 52.9% from the field, was never threatened taking a 48-22 lead at halftime.

Senior guard Andre Shaw (New York, NY) led the Golden Bears with 14 points in a reserve role. Senor forward Brad Thomka (Springfield, MA) contributed 11 points and six rebounds while senior center Conor Lomas (Wilbraham, MA) had a nice outing with 10 points and five rebounds.

Western New England College made only 34.5% of its field goal attempts in falling to 0-4.
