Johnson & Wales skates past Western New England College in ECAC Northeast game

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
- Freshman forward Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, MA) netted three goals with an assist as the Johnson & Wales men's hockey team skated to a 7-5 victory over Western New England College Saturday afternoon (Feb. 13) at Smead Arena.

Junior forward Craig Houle (Burrillville, RI) added a goal and four assists as the Wildcats improved their record to 9-13 overall and 6-5 in the ECAC Northeast. The Golden Bears drop to 2-18-1 and 1-10 in the league.

JWU led 2-1 after the opening period and scored four times in the middle stanza to take a 6-3 advantage after 40 minutes.

Western New England College came back when senior defenseman Joe Trimboli (Las Vegas, NV) tallied his first goal of the season just 2:44 into the third period. Junior forward Chris Beaudoin (Enfield, CT) then fired in a power play goal at the 12:55 mark to get the Golden Bears within 6-5.

Pietrasiak added an insurance goal and gained his hat trick with an assist from Houle with 2:15 left in the game.

Sophomore forward Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, MO) contributed a goal and assist for the visitors while junior forward Joe Simeone (Cranston, RI) chipped-in with two assists.

WNEC sophomore forward Kory Grahl (San Diego, CA) finished with three assists. Beaudoin and Trimboli each had an assist for a two-point afternoon.

Johnson & Wales freshman goalie Jake Menzel (St. Louis, MO) stopped 25 saves while freshman T.J. Fatse (Hampden, MA) compiled 33 saves for the Golden Bears.
