NEW LONDON, N.H. - Freshman guard Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) fired in a career high 31 points, but the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team rallied in the second half for a 66-55 victory over Western New England College in the regular-season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon (Feb. 20).

The Chargers pushed their record to 12-13 overall and 9-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). The Golden Bears, who had a three-game win streak ended, fell to 15-9 and 7-6 in the league.

Freshman guard Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, MA) led the hosts with 22 points and six rebounds while senior forward Terri Duffy (Marshfield, MA) notched a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Senior guard Amy Hebert (Keene, NH) added 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Savino scored 21 points in the opening half as WNEC took a 32-28 lead at intermission.

Western New England College enjoyed its biggest lead at 37-28 when freshman guard Shelby Van Huysen (Killingworth, CT) made two three throws 39 seconds into the second half.

The Golden Bears had a seven-point advantage (43-36) at the 14:42 mark before the roof caved-in.

Duffy scored on a layup to cap a 13-3 run, which gave the Chargers a 49-46 lead with 9:35 remaining.

Western New England College was only able to score nine points the rest of the way.

Savino, who netted 30 points in a win over Endicott back on January 16, made 11-of-15 shots and four-of-5 three-pointers. She also had three rebounds and a pair of assists.

Senior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) contributed 12 points with three steals. Junior forward Kelly McCormick (Manchester, CT) hauled-in 10 rebounds.
