AMHERST, Mass. - Amherst scored three runs in the first inning and four in the fifth en route to a 9-4 victory over visiting Western New England College in a non-league softball game Thursday (April 1).

This was the fourth straight win for the Lord Jeffs who are now 8-5. The Golden Bears drop to 6-9 after watching their three-game win streak come to an end.

Amherst banged out 13 hits as freshman third base player Reilly Horan (Darien, CT) led the way with a pair of singles, double, three runs, and a run-batted-in.

Freshman left fielder Theresa Kelley (Los Angeles, CA) belted a two-run homer in the first, finishing with two hits and three RBI. Sophomore shortstop Carly Dudzik (Darien, CT) doubled twice, walked, and scored three times.

Senior pitcher Alex Chang-Graham (San Carlos, AC) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and wound up allowing five hits with three walks and no strikeouts.

Western New England College freshman shortstop Jeana Longo (Schenectady, NY) had a two-run double in the sixth while sophomore Rachel Wyrwa (Metheun, MA) added a pinch-hit RBI single in the seventh. 

Sophomore Ashley Stolarik (Wilbraham, MA) had a pinch-hit double in the seventh and scored on a ground out. Senior center fielder Lauren Arsenault (Fitchburg, MA) also had a two-base hit.

Freshman Rachelle Fecteau (East Lyme, CT) took the loss.
