WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.
- The Western New England College softball team defeated host Williams 4-3 in the second game of a non-league doubleheader Wednesday (Apr. 7) to earn a split. The Ephs took opener by the score of 4-2.

Under summer-like conditions in Berkshire County, both teams played a pair of highly-competitive contests.

Sophomore Alyssa Obin (Plymouth, MA) gave up four hits and struck out two in the final three innings to pick up her first collegiate save.

The Golden Bears took advantage of a pair of errors to score four unearned runs.

Sophomore designated hitter Sarah Lempicki (Southington, CT) had two hits, including a two-run single in the second when the Golden Bears scored three times to take a 4-0 lead.

Senior center fielder Lauren Arsenault (Fitchburg, MA) and senior right fielder Christina Farese (Marlborough, MA) each collected a pair of hits as well.

In the opener, freshman center fielder Cedar Blazek (Highlands Ranch, CO) hit a walk-off one-out homer for the Ephs.

Sophomore Meagan Riemann (Dayville, CT) had a solid outing for the Golden Bears allowing only six hits and a run in five innings.

An RBI double by Lempicki in the sixth gave the Golden Bears a 2-1 lead before the Ephs tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning on a lead-off solo homer by Blazek
