SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman forward John Lineberry (Henniker, NH) had a goal and assist, and freshman goalie Eric Sorenson (Rochester, NY) compiled 34 saves as the Western New England men's hockey team defeated Connecticut College 4-2 in a non-league contest Tuesday evening (Jan. 11) at Smead Arena.

The Golden Bears snapped an eight-game skid to raise their record to 4-8-1. The Camels fall to 4-5-2.

WNEC took a 3-0 lead after the opening period following goals by Lineberry, and fellow freshman forwards John Kelly (Long Island, NY) and Alan Martin (Monson, MA).

Junior forward Rory Hansen (Noblesville, IL) gave the Golden Bears a 4-0 cushion at 6:37 of the middle period before the visitors tallied a pair of power play goals by senior forwards Jordan Gray (Mississauga, ONT) at 8:18 and Ryan Riffe (South Berwick, ME) at 19:20.

Freshman forwards Dan Monahan (Monroe, NJ) and Brian Prost (Parma, OH) each contributed two assists for Western New England.

Freshman goalie Mike Petchonka (Ridgefield, CT) finished with 27 saves for the Camels.
