John Cahalane (Tewksbury, MA) recorded a hat trick to lead the Worcester State men's hockey team to a 6-3 non-league victory over Western New England Saturday evening (Jan. 15) at the Daniel Horgan Memorial Ice Rink.
The Lancers (7-3-3) unleashed a 59-shot attack and tallied four power play goals in six attempts.

Brian Prost (Parma, OH) gave Western New England a 1-0 lead with his sixth goal of the season at 13:57 of the first period.
Worcester State then scored four goals in the second period (three on power plays) and that proved to be the difference.

John Kelly (Long Island, NY) pulled the Golden Bears within one at the 14:13 mark. Cahalane's second power play goal at 18:49 gave the Lancers a 4-2 advantage heading into the final period.

Nick Asterito (Philadelphia, PA) scored a short-handed goal at 6:16 for a 6-2 advantage. Asterito finished with two goals and an assist.
Kelly added his second goal at 11:53, but the Golden Bears couldn't make up the difference. He also had an assist for a three-point outing.
