JoJo Bojanowski (Washington Township, MI) scored what proved to be the winning goal midway through the final period as the Nichols men's hockey team won its third straight game with a 3-2 decision over Western New England Thursday night (Jan. 27) at Smead Arena.
Bojanowski also had an assist as the Bison improved their record to 10-7-1 overall and 4-3 in the ECAC Northeast. The Golden Bears are now 5-12-1 and 2-5 in the league.
Nichols took an early 1-0 lead when junior forward
Andrew Ella (Schomberg, ONT) scored just 1:55 into the contest with assists from sophomore forward
Brent Davis (Stony Plain, AL) and Bojanowski.
The game remained scoreless until senior forward
Will Munson (Corona CA) gave the visitors a two-goal lead at 4:38 of the third period. Sophomore forward
Zach Kohn (Hartland, WI) earned the assist.
There were three goals scored in a minute, 55-second span starting when Western New England junior forward
Mike Kaselouskas (East Longmeadow, MA) tallied a short-handed goal with an assist from freshman forward
Chris Connors (Albany, NY) at the 8:43 mark.
Bojanowski answered with a power play goal just 35 seconds later with an assist from junior defenseman
Drew Palmer (North Chelmsford, MA).
The Golden Bears pulled within one following a goal by freshman forward
Dan Monahan (Monroe, NJ) at 10:08 as freshman forward
Trent Krueger (White Bear Lake, MN) gained the assist.
Both goalies played well as junior
Jacob Rinn (Warwick, RI) compiled 30 saves for Nichols and freshman
Eric Sorenson (Rochester, NY) turned away 36 shots for Western New England.
