QUINCY, Mass. – The Western New England volleyball team earned its third straight victory as they swept Eastern Nazarene 3-0 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match on Wednesday (Oct. 12) evening at Lahue Gymnasium.
The game scores were 25-18, 25-9, and 25-20.
The Golden Bears improve to 10-9 overall and 3-2 in CCC play. The Lions drop to 7-14 on the season and 1-5 in conference action.
WNE was led offensively by sophomore outside hitter
Maureen Pollet (Dix Hills, NY) with 11 kills, while freshman outside hitter
Kasey Cameron (Reading, MA) was second on the team with eight kills.
Junior setter
Heather Mears (Amherst, MA) compiled a game-high 30 assists.
The Golden Bears were solid on the defensive end with four players contributing double figure digs; freshman
Carolyn Hajdusek (Northfield, NH) led the way with 15, freshman libero
Grace Kucharski (Avon, CT) added 14, freshman
Kendra Ouimette (Conway, MA) chipped in 11, while Mears had 10.
ENC was led offensively by freshman
Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, WV) with seven kills.
Freshman
Gina Anderson (Barrington, RI) had a game-high 19 digs; while senior
Kaitlyn Yoder (Smithburg, MD) had four service aces.
The Golden Bears will travel to the MIT Tournament on Friday (Oct. 14) to face UMass-Boston at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday (Oct. 15) WNE is scheduled to play MIT at 11:00 a.m. and Williams at 2:00 p.m.
