WENHAM, Mass. – The Western New England women's volleyball team closed out its regular season with a 3-1 win at Gordon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday (Oct. 29) afternoon.
The Golden Bears (14-13, 5-3 CCC) defeated the Fighting Scots (13-15, 1-7 CCC) by the scores of 25-18, 27-29, 25-15, and 25-13.
Leading the way for WNE offensively was sophomore outside hitter
Maureen Pollet (Dix Hills, NY) with a match-high 16 kills. Classmate
Tyler Singh (Dumont, NJ) contributed 11 kills in the contest.
Junior setter
Heather Mears (Amherst, MA) dished out 38 assists.
The Golden Bears were led defensively by freshman
Kendra Ouimette (Conway, MA) with 23 digs.
The Fighting Scots were led by senior
Claudia Amado (Glastonbury, CT) with 10 kills; while junior
Keri Hustus (Eastford, CT) and freshman
Joy Kimmel (Madison, CT) each contributed 12 digs.
Western New England will host fifth-seeded University of New England on Wednesday (Nov. 2) in the CCC Championship quarterfinals.
