SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman outside hitter
Kasey Cameron (Reading, MA) compiled a match high 12 kills to lead the Western New England women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology Tuesday evening (Oct. 4) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
WNE took the first two sets by the scores of 25-14 and 25-13 before the Leopards came back for a 26-24 decision in the third set. Western New England took the final set 25-17.
The Golden Bears, who had dropped their previous two outings, are now 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Senior right side hitter
Inna Sergeychik (West Springfield, MA) contributed eight kills and 13 digs in the win. Freshman setter
Val Smith (Norristown, PA) added 26 assists and freshman libero
Grace Kucharski (Avon, CT) chipped-in with 14 digs.
Wentworth senior middle hitter
Julie Bruton (Montgomery, TX) and sophomore outside hitter
Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, NH) each recorded 10 kills. Freshman setter/outside hitter
Shannon Ponce (San Jose, CA) dished out 26 assists. Freshman setter
Sam Curran (Quincy, MA) had 14 digs.
The Leopards are now 9-10 and 2-2 in the conference.
