WENHAM, Mass. – Junior forward
David Dempsey (Wallingford, CT) had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Gordon men's basketball team defeated Western New England 63-56 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both squads Tuesday evening (Nov. 30).
This was the first win of the season in four contests for the Fighting Scots. The Golden Bears drop to 2-3 after suffering their third straight loss.
Sophomore guard
Luke Hamilton (Mount Airey, NC) added 13 points while sophomore guard
Alex Carnes (Phoenix, AZ) contributed eight points, six rebounds, and five assists for the hosts.
Western New England senior guard
Andre Shaw (New York, NY) netted a game-high 23 points and had five rebounds along with seven assists.
Junior guard
Damon Alston (New Britain, CT) and sophomore forward
Dennis Rinaldi (Harrison, NY) each scored eight points. Rinaldi made four-of-five shots from the field and had a team best six rebounds.
Western New England had an off-shooting night making only 34.5% of its field goal attempts. Gordon shot 48.9% from the field and held a 42-29 edge in the rebounding department.
