SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore guard
Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, MA) scored 25 points as the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team defeated Western New England 66-49 in the final game of the regular season for both squads Saturday afternoon (Feb. 19) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
The Chargers improve their record to 14-10 overall and 10-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). The Golden Bears drop to 14-11 and 6-7 in TCCC play.
Also scoring in double figures were senior guard
Katelyn Stravinsky (Norwell, MA) who netted 10 points and sophomore forward
Sammi Lehr (Cohasset, MA) who compiled a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The visitors scored the first nine points of the game and held a 30-21 advantage at halftime. DeSanty scored nine points in less than two minutes to give the Chargers a 40-25 lead with 14:47 remaining in the game.
Junior forward
Kaitlin Fifield (Warner, NH) scored only six points, but four came in a 45-second span that gave CSC a 44-28 advantage at the 12:51 mark, and the Chargers never looked back.
Western New England received a nice effort from sophomore guard
Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) who had 15 points and seven rebounds. Junior forward
Sarah Proper (Coxsackie, NY) added 10 points and eight rebounds.

lly McCormick (Manchester, CT) pulled down a game high 12 rebounds.

Trish Breault (Millville, MA), and
Loren Stock (Rocky Hill, CT) were honored before the game during Senior Day ceremonies.
Western New England earned the seventh seed in the upcoming playoffs and will visit second-seeded University of New England (19-6, 12-1) at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 22) in a quarterfinal round of the Conference Championship.
Colby-Sawyer gained the third seeded and will host sixth-seeded Roger Williams (15-9, 8-5) in another first-round contest.
