ORLANDO, Fla. - The Western New England men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 6-3 loss against St. Ambrose (Iowa) Sunday afternoon (Mar. 13).
The Golden Bears' number one doubles team of senior co-captains
Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) and
Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) posted an 8-4 victory.
Jones captured his number two singles match with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
In the longest and most exciting match, senior
Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ) posted a 7-5 (6-1), 11-9 decision at number six singles.
This is Santye's first year on the tennis squad - he was a standout performer on the lacrosse squad the past three seasons.
Western New England is now 0-2.
