MILTON, Mass. - The Western New England men's tennis team remained unbeaten in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with an 8-1 victory over host Curry Saturday afternoon (Apr. 2).

This was the eighth consecutive win for the Golden Bears who are now 8-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Colonels remain winless at 0-5 and 0-4 in the league.

Senior co-captains Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) and Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) again led the way with an 8-1 win at the top doubles spot. Relihan also took his number one singles match 6-0, 6-1 while Jones posted a 6-3, 6-1 decision at number two singles.


Also in doubles, sophomore Chris Holzinger (Foster, RI) and junior JonPaul Ouellette (Bethlehem, CT) posted an 8-2 victory at the second flight. Senior Matt Minahan (Plymouth, MA) and junior newcomer Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, NY) continued their fine play with a similar 8-2 win at the number three position. Minahan also took a 6-0, 6-2 win at number five singles.

Holzinger rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 win at number three singles in the next-to-last match of the day.

The match ended when Ouellette came through with a fine 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 decision at number four singles.
