BEVERLY, Mass. - The Western New England softball team completed play in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) by dropping a doubleheader at Endicott by the scores of 7-0 and 5-3 Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 26).
The Golden Bears, who had a 13-game win streak ended, are now 24-14 overall.
Despite the losses, Western New England finished second in the conference with an 18-6 record.
Endicott improved to 31-5 and captured the regular season conference title with an impressive 23-1 mark.
Western New England ends its regular season campaign by hosting Williams in a non-league doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (Apr. 27) and hosts a TCCC Championship playoff game next Tuesday (May 3) against an opponent and time to be determined.

Jenna Bortolotti (Milton, MA) (14-3) tossed a five-hitter with only one walk and seven strikeouts. Senior right-fielder
Hayley Hovhanessian (Farmington, CT) had a single, double, and four RBI to lead the Gulls. EC scored twice in the first and second innings, once int he third, and two more times in the fourth.

Rachel Wyrwa (Methuen, MA) singled twice in three at-bats for the Golden Bears. It was Wyrwa's team best 20th multi-hit contest of the season. Junior
Meagan Riemann (Dayville, CT) (8-4) didn't pitch that badly giving up five hits and three runs (two earned) with a walk and strikeout.
Game 2 - Endicott 5, Western New England 3
Endicott took advantage of four errors to score a pair of unearned runs that proved to be the difference. The Gulls led 3-0 before the Golden Bears cut to margin to a run by scoring twice in the third, but couldn't get any closer.

Maria Francese (Dalton, MA) went 3-for-4 for and scored a run for Western New England. Senior first base player
Trish Breault (Millville, MA) singled twice and scored a pair of runs. Sophomore shortstop
Jeana Longo (Schenectady, NY) also had two hits and knocked in a run that got the visitors to within 4-3 in the fifth.
EC sophomore first base player
Nicole Devlin (Dudley, MA) hit a sacrifice fly that delivered an unearned run in the bottom of the inning for an insurance run.
The Golden Bears put the tying runs on base in the seventh before freshman
Jennie Lacolla (Stoneham, MA) pitched out of the jam. Lacolla (4-1) gave up eight hits and two earned runs with a walk and three strikeouts.

Jesse Bilafer (Concord, MA) had two hits, run scored, and RBI.
Western New England junior
Alyssa Obin (Plymouth, MA) (7-3) took the loss after allowing seven hits. She walked four and had three strikeouts.
