BRISTOL, R.I. - Third-seeded Western New England was eliminated from The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) after dropping a 5-0 decision in a semifinal round match at second-seeded Roger Williams Friday afternoon (Apr. 29).
The Golden Bears trailed 3-0 after dropping all three doubles flights by identical 8-3 scores when the two teams met on Wednesday. Rain then forced the singles matches to be suspended until today and the Hawks used wins at the number two and five positions for the win.
Western New England ends its best season ever with an outstanding 14-5 record.
RWU improves to an impressive 16-6 and advances to the title match Saturday (Apr. 30) against top-seeded Nichols. The Hawks dropped a 5-4 decision to the Bison in the regular season meeting back on March 29, but have captured 10 consecutive matches since then.
