NEWPORT, R.I. - Playing its second match in as many days, the Western New England men's tennis team defeated Salve Regina 6-3 Thursday (Apr. 7) to maintain its top spot in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

The Golden Bears are now 10-2 and a perfect 6-0 in the conference, just ahead of Nichols who is 5-0.

Senior co-captain Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) took his number two singles flight with a hard-earned 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 victory. He and senior co-captain Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) also held on for a thrilling 9-8 (8-6) victory at number one doubles.

Sophomore Chris Holzinger (Foster, RI) also took a key point at number three singles with a 6-4, 6-3 decision.

The Seahawks fall to  3-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

On Wednesday, Western New England defeated visiting Endicott by the score of 5-4.
