Top-seeded Endicott defeats Western New England in TCCC Championship play

BEVERLY, Mass. – The top-seeded Endicott Gulls earned a 13-2 victory over second-seeded Western New England on Thursday (May 5) to advance to the championship game of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament.

The Golden Bears jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as junior outfielder Rachel Wyrwa (Metheun, MA) had an RBI single to score senior first baseman Tricia Breault (Millville, MA).

Wyrwa later came around to score on an error.

The Gulls quickly answered back with four runs in the bottom of the first.  and

Endicott then put the game out of reach with a nine-run third inning which featured a three-run homerun by sophomore catcher Krista Fales (Melrose, MA).

Leading the way for Endicott was senior center fielder Ashley Wright (Merrimack, NH) who went 3-for-3 with four RBI's and a pair of runs scored.

Senior right fielder Hayley Hovhanessian (Farmington, CT) was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in.

Senior pitcher Jenna Bortolotti (Milton, MA) improved her record to 16-4 as she allowed just two hits in five innings of work.

The Golden Bears return to Endicott on Saturday to continue TCCC Championship play against the fourth-seed University of New England at 10:00 a.m. The winner will advance to meet the Gulls to decide the conference title.
