Western New England drops an 8-1 decision to host Roger Williams in CCC contest

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Western New England women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Roger Williams in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday (Sept. 10).

The Golden Bears fall to 0-2 overall, their same mark in the conference.

Senior Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) had the only point for WNE with an exciting 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 victory at the number one singles position.

Barbarisi and senior Jess Haffner (Suffield, CT) came up just short in their number two doubles match falling 9-8 after losing the tie-breaker.

Haffner also put up a hard-fought battle in her number four singles outing falling 0-6, 7-6 (14-12), and 10-6.

The Hawks won the other four singles matches in straight sets.

RWU is now 2-1 after winning their conference opener.
