SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior right side hitter
Inna Sergeychik (West Springfield, MA) had 12 kills as the Western New England women's volleyball team defeated University of New England 3-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener for both squads Saturday afternoon (Sept. 17) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
The game scores were 25-13, 22-25, 25-22, and 25-19.
Sophomore outside hitter
Maureen Pollet (Dix Hills, NY) added 10 kills as the Golden Bears evened their record at 5-5 with their second consecutive victory.
Junior setter
Heather Mears (Amherst, MA) contributed to the win by dishing out 36 assists. Freshman libero
Grace Kucharski (Avon, CT) continued her fine play with 22 digs and four service aces.
UNE sophomore setter
Maria Kuehl (Middleton, NH) had a double-double with 32 assists and 21 digs. Junior middle blocker
Paige Curran (Chelmsford, MA) had a match-high 14 kills. Sophomore libero
Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, MA) chipped-in with 22 digs.
The Nor'easters fall to 2-8.
