Western New England defeats conference rival Gordon 7-2 for second consecutive victory

WENHAM, Mass. - The Western New England women's tennis team captured all three doubles matches in gaining a 7-2 victory over host Gordon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 27).

This was the second straight win for the Golden Bears who are now 3-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference. The Fighting Scots drop to 1-6 and 1-4 in league play.

Western New England dropped only seven points in doubles action as seniors Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) and Caitlin Hughes (Springfield, MA) took a 8-1 victory at the one number one position.

Seniors Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) and Jess Haffner (Suffield, CT) had a similar 8-1 win at the number two flight.

Senior Lori Pagliano (Milford, CT) and sophomore Kelsey Grode (Fairview, PA) took an 8-5 decision at the number three spot.

Barbarisi (6-4, 6-0), Hughes (6-0, 6-0), DeSimone (6-0, 6-0), and Haffner (6-0, 6-1) also captured their respective one through four singles matches in straight sets.
