Western New England blanks Saint Joseph (CT) 9-0 for third consecutive victory

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Western New England women's tennis team blanked St. Joseph (CT) 9-0 for its third consecutive victory Friday afternoon (Sept. 30). The Golden Bears evened their record at 4-4 while the Blue Jays fell to 2-7.

Junior Alysha Lessiuer (Hudson, NH) contributed to the win by posting a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win in her first start at the number three singles position.

Freshman Val Conway (Cumberland, RI) came away with a 6-1, 6-3 victory playing at number four singles for the first time.

Junior Aurora Thompson (Colebrook, CT) added a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) decision in only her second match of the year at the number six singles flight.

Senior Caitlin Hughes (Springfield, MA) dropped only one set in winning her number one singles match. She and senior Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) took an 8-2 win at the top doubles flight. DeSimone also had a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the number two singles spot.

Senior Lori Pagliano (Milford, CT) posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at the number five singles position. She and sophomore Kelsey Grode (Fairview, PA) also won their number three doubles match.
