SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward
Dan Monahan (Monroe, NJ) scored two goals and had two assists as the Western New England men's hockey team rolled to a 9-1 victory over Suffolk in a penalty-filled contest Saturday night (Jan. 21) at Smead Arena.
The Golden Bears, who won only eight games a year ago, improve to 9-7 overall and 4-2 in the ECAC Northeast. The Rams drop to 2-13 and 0-6 in the league.

Chris Connors (Albany, NY) tied the contest just 1:08 later.
Western New England took the lead for good when sophomore forward
Trent Krueger (White Bear Lake, MN) scored at 12:32. The Golden Bears tacked on two more goals to take a 4-1 advantage after the first period.
WNE broke the game open with three goals in a wild second period, which featured a brawl that resulted in five players from each squad being ejected.

Brett Roman (Rock Tavern, NY) played the final 10 minutes and turned away nine shots while allowing just one goal.
