Tyler Singh added seven kills, as the visiting Western New England University volleyball team swept Curry College 25-19, 25-12, 25-15 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Tuesday. The Golden Bears improve to 18-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference, while the Colonels drop to 7-13 and 0-7 in the CCC.

Rachel Meachem recorded 18 and 14 assists, respectively, to dictate the offense for the Golden Bears, who hit .247 as a team for the match thanks to recording .300-plus figures in both the second and third sets.
In the opening set, Curry jumped out to a 7-4 lead, but Western New England went on a 5-1 run to take a lead it would not relinquish. In the second, the Golden Bears took control from the start and eased their way to a 13-point cushion. The final frame began with Western New England on a 5-0 run, but Curry fought back to tie the score at 8-8. The Golden Bears, however, scored 17 of the next 24 points to clinch the match.
Freshman Mary Frances Usenik led Curry with five kills and six digs, while sophomore Hannah Robison dished out a team-high eight assists.
In addition to 11 service aces to complement its offense, Western New England performed equally well on the defensive end. The Golden Bears forced the Colonels to hit only .014 while making 38 digs.
