FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--Devyn Frank,
Maureen Pollet and
Kasey Cameron each had nine kills, while
Heather Mears found the open hitters with 33 assists, to propel Western New England University to a 25-11, 25-19, 25-13 non-conference women's volleyball triumph at Framingham State on Thursday.
The Golden Bears extend their current win streak to three as they improve to 14-2 on the season, while the Rams see their three-match win streak end as they are now 15-5.
"This was one of our strongest outings as a team, working together and playing as one unit out on the court," Western New England coach Bret Stothart said after the match. "We played aggressive, but loose at the same time, which helped us to play solid defense and run a quality offense."
Frank was especially efficient on offense as she committed no errors in 11 attack attempts. Pollet and Cameron combined for only five hitting errors in 45 total attempts
As a team, the Golden Bears spiked 38 kills on 90 swings with just six errors for a .356 clip. The visitors set the tone early with a 15-kill, 2-error, 31-attempt, .419-percentage performance in the first set.
On a well-rounded night, the defense also shined for Western New England with
Grace Kucharski getting 17 digs and
Kendra Ouimette added 11. Both players also served up two aces.
The Rams were led by Andressa Fernandes who had a match-high 10 kills to go along with seven digs, while Kassandra Jermyn contributed 21 assists. Michelle DeJesus led the FSU back row with 11 digs.
