SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman goalie
Tim Carr (Pine Bush, NY) compiled 39 saves for his first collegiate win to lead the Western New England men's hockey team to a 3-1 victory over visiting Salve Regina in an ECAC Northeast contest Saturday evening (Feb. 11) at Smead Arena.
The Golden Bears raised their record to 12-11 for their win highest total since 1994.
Western New England bounced back from its worst loss of the season (10-3 to Johnson & Wales on Wednesday) to score a goal in each period to improve its league mark to 7-5 with two games left in the regular season.
Carr helped drive the Golden Bears to their third win in four outings with a sensational performance in only his fourth appearance of the season and second starting assignment. He stopped 16 shots in the second period and 17 in the final stanza.

Dan Monahan (Monroe, NJ) scored just 1:02 into the game with assists from senior forward

John Kelly (Staten Island, NY) put the Golden Bears ahead 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 7:16 of the second period.
A short time later Carr turned away a pair of short-handed breakaway opportunities by freshman forward

Jacob Hutt (Menlo Park, CA) in a 15-second span, then stopped three other power play attempts.
The Seahawks (6-17, 2-10 ECAC Northeast) got on the board when freshman forward
Chad Goodwin (Whitinsville, MA) netted a goal at 7:39 of the third period. Sophomore defenseman
Chad Hollenshade (Lutherville, MD) and Scorcia had the assists.

Chris Connors (Albany, NY) fired-in an important insurance goal at 11:36 with assists from senior forward
Rory Hansen (Noblesville, IN) and Kelly.
SRU pulled junior goalie
Mike McDonald (Whitby, ON) (21 saves) with 2:46 remaining in regulation, but couldn't score.
