Sarah Proper (Coxsackie, NY) and junior guard
Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) each scored 14 points to lead the Western New England women's basketball team to a 66-39 victory over Wentworth Thursday evening (Feb. 2) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
This was the fourth straight win (and eighth in 10 outings) for the Golden Bears who are now 10-10 overall and 9-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).
Junior guard
Shelby Van Huysen (Killingworth, CT) added 12 points coming off the bench while freshman center
Sam McCann (Warren, MA) was the fourth player in double figures with 10 points.
Western New England took a commanding 41-17 lead at halftime and coasted the rest of the way.
Sophomore forward
Kendra Kerr (Marshfield, MA) had a double-double for the Leopards with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Christine Henry (Tewksbury, MA) chipped-in with nine points in a reserve role.
Western New England shot 43.4% from the field and had a 37-33 edge in the rebounding department. Proper had seven boards to lead the way.
The Golden Bears held the visitors to only 31.5% shooting from the field and forced 24 turnovers.
Wentworth is now 1-19 overall and 1-12 in CCC play.
