Johnson & Wales overwhelmes Western New England 10-3 in ECAC Northeast outing

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, MO) had three goals and three assists as Johnson & Wales posted a 10-3 victory over Western New England in an ECAC Northeast men's hockey game Wednesday evening (Feb. 8) at Smead Arena.

Senior defenseman Domenic Recchia (Sterling Heights, MI) added four assists for the Wildcats who are now 13-7-2 overall and 7-3-1 in the league.

JWU, who came into the game leading the nation's Division III teams in scoring (4.95), jumped to an early 2-0 lead on goals by junior defenseman Trevor Jewell (Belgrade, MT) and Ketts (the nation's top scorer with 57 points) in the opening 3:21 and led 6-2 after the opening period.

Jewell and freshman forward Alex Porrier (Rutland, VT) each scored twice while junior forward Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, MA) and junior forward Erick Vos (Kalamazoo, MI) each contributed a goal and two assists.

Sophomore forward Ian DePasquale (Buffalo, NY) chipped-in with a goal and assist. Junior forward Ryan Kelly (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) had a pair of assists.

Junior goalie Matt Cooper (Perrysburg, OH) turned in a solid performance with 41 saves in 55 minutes, 33 seconds.

Western New England received a goal and assist from sophomore forward Dan Monahan (Monroe, NJ). Sophomore forward Chris Connors (Albany, NY) and sophomore defenseman Rance Vukovic (Lansdale, PA) had the other goals.

The Golden Bears (11-11, 6-5 ECAC) employed three goalies with sophomore Eric Sorenson (Fairport, NY) taking the loss after allowing five goals in the opening 10:31. He made four saves before being replaced.
