Endicott blanks Western New England 9-0 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match

BEVERLY, Mass. – Western New England played some close matches, but Endicott dominated play in posting a 9-0 victory in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's tennis match Saturday afternoon (Apr. 14).

The Golden Bears fell to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Gulls improved to 7-8 with a 3-2 mark in CCC contests.

In doubles action, Western New England's number two squad of senior Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, NY) and freshman John Mindek (Willington, CT) put up a good battle before falling 9-8 (11-9 in the tie-breaker).

Junior Chris Holzinger (Foster, RI) gave junior Olivier Joggi (Stoneham, MA) all he could handle before dropping a 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 10-5 decision at the top singles flight.

Joggi and junior Jake Cohen (Barrington, RI) also captured their number one doubles match. Cohen was a straight set winner at number four singles.
