QUINCY, Mass. – The Western New England softball team split a doubleheader with Eastern Nazarene dropping the opener 5-2 before capturing the second contest 9-1 Monday afternoon (Apr. 16) at Mitchell-McCoy Field.
The Golden Bears now have a 12-14 record and 6-4 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The Lions are 10-20 and 4-10 in conference play.
Game 1 – Eastern Nazarene 5, Western New England 2

Taylor Fleming (Upland, IN) had two hits and sophomore first base player
Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, MA) knocked in two runs with a double to lead ENC. Freshman pitcher
Kori Sorensen (Quincy, MA) (9-6) gave up seven hits and walked two with six strikeouts.
The Golden Bears loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but Sorensen got the final out for the win.

Hannah Hill (Malden, MA) had a pair of singles and senior catcher
Rachel Wyrwa (Methuen, MA) contributed a two-run double.
Senior pitcher S
arah Lempicki (Plantsville, CT) (6-4) took the loss after allowing eight hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.
Game 2 – Western New England 9, Eastern Nazarene 1 (5 inn.)
Senior first base player
Sara Barnes (Berkley, MA) had three hits, including a double, along with a run scored and two RBI to lead the Golden Bears.
Freshman right fielder
Jocelyn Agnelli (Winchendon, MA) also had three hits and scored a run. Lemicki (two runs, one RBI) and Hill (one run, two RBI) each chipped-in with two hits.
Senior pitcher
Alyssa Obin (Plymouth, MA) allowed only five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
WNE scored twice in both the first and second innings, and put the game away with five runs in the fifth.
Sophomore shortstop
Samantha Losano (Elverta, CA) had a single and RBI triple for the hosts. Sorenson (9-7) was the losing pitcher.
