SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England men's tennis team defeated visiting Salve Regina 6-3 Saturday (Apr. 21) in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match.
The Golden Bears returned to the .500 level at 7-7 and are now 4-3 in the conference. The Seahawks drop to 4-14 and 3-5 in the CCC.

Chris Holzinger (Foster, RI) had a big win at number one singles taking a 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 decision to lead Western New England.
WNE captured the third through five singles matches following straight set wins by senior
Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, NY) (6-2, 6-3), and freshman
Greg Tischofer (Portland, CT) (6-0, 6-1), and
Peter Lefrancois (Marlborough, MA) (7-5, 6-1).

John Mindek (Willington, CT) took their number two doubles event (8-0) while senior
Jon-Paul Ouellette (Bethlehem, CT) and freshman
Peter Nassar (Longmeadow, MA) won at the third position (8-1).
SRU junior
Aaron Isch (Tolland, CT) captured two points with 6-3, 6-3 decision at number two singles and 8-6 victory at number one doubles with senior
Zachary Rosenfeld (Easton, CT).
Junior
Malcolm Marshall (Topsham, ME) was a 6—4, 6-1 winner at number six doubles.
Before the match, Fitzpatrick and Ouellette were recognized during Senior Day activities.
