Zack Bussiere (Colchester, CT) captured both his number one doubles and singles matches to lead the Roger Williams men's tennis team to an 8-1 victory over Western New England Friday afternoon (Apr. 6).
The Hawks raised their record to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The Golden Bears saw their three-match win streak ended after falling to 3-5 and1-1 in conference play.
Bussiere took his singles flight with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) decision over junior
Chris Holzinger (Foster, RI) and teamed with sophomore
Taylor Webster (Bristol, CT) for an 8-3 win over Holzinger and freshman
Peter Lefrancois (Marlborough, CT).
Western New England scored its only point when sophomore
Tyler Unwin (Pittsfield, VT) posted a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6) victory over freshman
Alexander Dimas (Athens, NY).
