SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England University women's volleyball team moved to 7-0 on the season Tuesday after turning back Johnson & Wales at the Alumni Healthful Living Center Field House, 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 25-19. J&W falls to 1-7.
Maureen Pollet led Western New England with 13 kills to go along with a .394 attack percentage, followed by
Devyn Frank with eight kills and
Heather Mears with five kills, 38 assists and 10 digs.
Karlie Haack spiked a match-high 17 kills and Alyssa Drapeau posted a triple-double with 11 kills, 12 assists and 11 digs for Johnson & Wales.
Trailing two sets to none, J&W got back in the match after taking the third set on the strength of a solid attack, netting 15 kills on 35 attempts against only two errors for a sparkling .394 efficiency rate.
But the Golden Bears responded in the decisive set by opening with a 5-0 lead and never looked back.
Tyler Singh, who finished with seven kills and hit .400, had solo blocks to end the first and fourth sets.
