SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Western New England University committed a season-high five turnovers in a 43-0 loss at the hands of visiting Salve Regina in a New England Football Conference--Boyd Division match-up on Saturday at Golden Bear Stadium, snapping Western New England's three-game winning streak in the series. The Seahawks, who are ranked No. 1 in New England by Division III sports information directors and head coaches and have been receiving votes in the national polls, improve to 5-0 overall and 2-1 in NEFC-Boyd games. The defending conference champion Golden Bears fall to 3-2 and 1-2 in the league.
Salve Regina struck quickly with a 64-yard scoring pass from Steven Wilken to Matthew Traynor just 59 seconds after the opening kickoff. Wilken finished the afternoon by completing 16 of 26 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns, and Traynor caught five balls for 111 yards.
Kevin Cook led the Golden Bears with 70 yards on the ground,
John Krafick completed 20 passes for 150 yards, and
Kareem Hines contributed six receptions for 49 yards.

Nathan Fleming led all tacklers with 17 stops, including 10 solos.
Joshua Burnett spearheaded a SRU defense with 15 tackles and Phil Terio added nine (6 solo) to go along with an 88-yard interception for a touchdown that gave the Seahawks a 31-0 cushion in the fourth quarter.
