Kevin Cook Climbs to 3rd Place on Western New England All-Time Rushing Yards List

Box Score BEVERLY, Mass.--Junior Kevin Cook ran for a game-high 161 yards and three touchdowns, and junior Adam Dunne caught a game-best 109 of John Krafick 267 yards passing, but Western New England couldn't contain Endicott in a 38-21 New England Football Conference loss on Saturday evening at Gull Stadium. The visiting Golden Bears fall to 3-6 on the season and 2-4 in the NEFC, while the 7-2 Gulls maintain a share of first place in the NEFC standings with Salve Regina at 6-0 in conference.

Cook now has 2,673 career rushing yards to surpass Mike Laroche (2,587 from 2001-04) for third place on the school's all-time chart. The running back also has recorded 33 touchdowns--including a NEFC-best 17 this season--for 198 points under his belt to firmly entrench himself in third place in Golden Bears annals.

Krafick completed 29 of 54 pass attempts, including eight connections with Dunne.

Endicott quarterback Drew Frenette completed 17 of 32 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns.

After forcing the WNE offense on a three-and-out, Endicott scored on its first possession off a Nate Lewis 47-yard touchdown pass from Frenette with 12 minutes and 50 seconds left in the first quarter. The Gulls scored again 2 minutes later after their defense forced another WNE three-and-out as Frenette threw a 10-yard TD pass to Alec Matys.

Matys led the team with six catches for 90 yards while senior tight end Greg Dellorco totaled 72 yards on just two grabs.

Western New England trailed 28-0 before getting on the scoreboard at the 1:44 mark before intermission when Cook ran for the first of his three touchdowns from 3 yards out, capping an 11-play, 78-yard drive in 3:09.

Cook helped make it 28-14 to open the scoring for both teams 5 minutes into the second half when he plunged across the goal line from a yard out to cap a 69-yard drive in 14 plays and 4:05 of elapsed time.

Western New England dominated several statistical areas including first downs (31-17), 3rd/4th-down conversions (11-3), net yards rushing (178-91), plays (113-62) and time of possession (33:54-26:06), as well as outgaining the Endicott 445 to 414 in total yards.

Defensively, the Golden Bears were led by sophomore Nathan Fleming and freshman Isaiah Berrios who each had seven tackles.  Fleming added a half sack and one tackle for a loss.

Nick Kozlowski tied an Endicott record with 19 tackles in the game, leading five teammates in double figures.
